The Village of the Enchanted Forest is a private entreprise located in the Lac Saint-Jean area (province of Quebec, Canada). Our objective is to acquire private land to create growing sustainable forest development activities.
In the boreal forest where we live, most of the activities taking place rely on economic incentives heavily dominated by the production of wood for industrial purposes. In most cases, this situation gives rise to a confrontation with the need to preserve the ecological integrity of the environment for future generations.
At the Village of the Enchanted Forest, we believe that the forest must primarily be seen as an ecosystem and, as such, we should give priority to preserving its ecological attributes so we can maintain biodiversity. In addition, we also believe that a multiressource development can help to promote biodiversity, or at least to ease its protection.
Thus, we will seize all forest, agro-forest, recreative and wildlife resources to generate economic activities after we make sure that the ecological integrity of the sites is sufficiently enhanced and protected. At the Village, we have an expertise that will allow us to deal with the planning of activities that will meet our goals. We also believe that our philosophy can be applied in all parts of the world with development priorities adapted to the realities and the basic needs of social communities.
In this website, you will find relevant content and links on sustainable forest development, but also information on products that can be classified as Non-timber forest products (or Non-wood forest products - Special forest products). At this point we offer those products, when possible and available, from affiliate merchants hoping people will buy enough to help us maintain the acquisition of properties for which we seek financial autonomy. We hope that in a near future we will be able to provide our own natural products from our properties. Please enjoy our WEB site!
The Village of the Enchanted Forest, it is our environment, its communities, and their dreams to aspire to a better life for themselves and their future generations.
