The Village of the Enchanted Forest

Forest Sustainable Development for Local Communities

Portable Sawmills

Sawing with a portable device is far from producing a non timber forest product, but it is still a good way to transform a resource into value-added products in your own property. Having a complete sawmill equipment along with skidding facilities is certainly a good start to reach profitability in the long run. Doing only sawmilling is not what we are looking for at the Village. We rather think that it will serve us at the beginning to add value to downgraded trees that have to be cut down to improve the canopy (e.g. by thinning). Later on, as we acquire more and more properties, we will benefit of a sustainable activity as the sawmill will be moved over from one site to the other with a well planned schedule.
